Total apathy…

Does anyone else out there feel totally apathetic about love? Like it’s impossible, unrealistic, and futile? That people will never change, and egotism and selfishness are the pervasive themes in modern relationships? Or is it just me?

  1. People are a bit like onions, the outer layers represent the persona they want you to see. Once you start peeling back layers you begin to glimpse the true nature of what is inside. Just hope you can get an idea of what you really have, before you are 2 kids and a mortgage in. Been there, done that, have the scars to prove it. Bad experiences can over time, deaden ones ability to experience love in its true un-cynical form, but one can get to a better place over time. IME anyway.

  2. Honestly, I don’t even know if love actually exists. I feel as if it’s this idea that was simply made up way back when so we can have something else to hope and wish for that will also possibly never actually show up. I feel like the “true love” that once existed is rather dead in this era.

    1. I blame the media, honestly. All of the depictions of “love” in TV, movies, music, and books are completely unrealistic and, in my opinion, cause nothing but disillusionment when people discover how it works in the real world. That being said, I like to think that love does exist…just maybe not in the way we’d all like it to exist.
